A little X’s and O’s for you folks during NBA playoff season.

We all know that use of the Pick-n-Roll (PNR) has increased, really (in my opinion) since Mike D’Antoni’s time coaching at Phoenix (if you coached Steve Nash, you’d PNR too).  However, you are seeing the PNR evolve by utilizing what is called a Ram Screen (RS).  Simply put, this is pick-the-picker, ball screen style.

By screening for the ball screener, the ball screen defender is less likely to be in a position to hedge, trap, blitz or even cover accurately due to having to fight through a screen to begin with.  Please enjoy the following link from Basketball Breakdown analyzing the RS in greater detail:
